What is OFX file extension?

Files with the QFX extension are used by Quicken's financial management software. QFX files are used as a data exchange format between program users. They may contain information on financial operations or account balances. QFX files are most often distributed by financial institutions and the data contained therein is imported into the user program. QFX files perform a similar role to OFX files, but this format is proprietary.

What else may cause problems?
There can be more reasons which determine that you are not able to open the OFX file (apart from the lack of the proper application installed).
